Idrija Miner's Band

Idrija Miners Band dates back to 1665 wich ranks it among the oldest musical organisations in Slovenia and abroad. The first written reference to Idrija's musicians appears in the writings of Janez Vajkard Valvasor, in the 8th book of The Glory of the Duchy of Carniola (1689). Although the band was for most of its history closely connected to the Idrija Mercury Mine, its work was never limited solely to Idrija.

Benedetti Life: A visionary fashion spectacle under the stars in Nova Gorica

In the world of fashion, often dominated by fast consumption and unethical practices, Slovenian designer Matea Benedetti has set a new standard with her brand Benedetti Life. Her philosophy combines sustainability, innovation and compassion in luxury fashion without animal-derived materials. Circus Fuskabo

Nowadays, children spend a lot of their time on the computer, on the phone, in front of the TV, but do not play enough with their peers outside. For some of them, this is because they are not interested in more creative challenges, and others because their parents cannot afford to include them in music schools, sports activities, creative workshops and the like. And so, the story of Circus Fuskabo begins.

Great stories and illustrated children’s books

The biggest Slovenian publisher, Mladinska knjiga, publishes 40 illustrated children’s books a year. Famous Slovenian authors and book artists have worked with Mladinska knjiga to create and render in visual images an entire animal kingdom of literary heroes, among whom those with highest cult status include the Slovenian bear Piki Jakob, Muri the cat and Sapra the mouse. But special status is reserved for the oldest of them all – the Slovenian salt smuggler Martin Krpan.

I want to go my own way

Like most people in Slovenia, Matjaž Pograjc is living in isolation these days, but is intensely involved in new projects. He is the director and founder of the Betontanc Theater, in-house director of the Mladinsko Theatre (Slovensko mladinsko gledališče), winner of the Prešeren Foundation award, former footballer and computer science student who left his computer behind to become a theatre director. He is also a sports enthusiast and nature lover. Because, as he says himself, the theatre is nevertheless not the centre of his world.
