Designed for everyone.
The Government Communication Office is committed to making slovenia.si accessible to everyone, in accordance with the Accessibility of Websites and Mobile Applications Act (ZDSMA).
Accessibility statement
This statement applies to the slovenia.si portal: its pages, stories, guide, quiz and newsletter, in all three designs (V1, V2 and V3) and in every language of the interface.
Compliance status
The portal is partially compliant with the Accessibility of Websites and Mobile Applications Act (ZDSMA), Directive (EU) 2016/2102 and the WCAG 2.2 level AA criteria of the harmonised standard EN 301 549, because of the exceptions listed below.
What we have done
- A link to skip to the content is the first stop of the keyboard on every page; every page has landmarks, a logical heading structure and a declared language, also for passages in another language.
- All menus, dialogs, galleries, the language selector, the quiz and the guide can be used with the keyboard alone; dialogs move focus inside, close with Escape and return focus to where it was.
- Image galleries have previous and next buttons, announce the current image, and hidden images cannot receive focus; an enlarged image opens in a labelled dialog.
- Videos have visible controls, never start with sound, pause when the visitor prefers reduced motion, and carry their captions where the recording has them.
- The accessibility tools (the button at the right edge of the screen) offer larger text, high contrast, a dark view, a dyslexia-friendly font, underlined links and reduced motion. Your choices are remembered on your device.
- Forms have visible labels, explain errors in text and never require dragging; the guide can also be asked by voice where the browser supports it.
- Each release is checked with automated tools (axe-core, Pa11y with HTML CodeSniffer, Lighthouse) and by hand with the keyboard, at desktop and mobile widths and at 200% and 400% zoom.
Content that is not yet accessible
- Some photographs in older stories, taken over from the previous portal, do not have an adequate text description. We are adding descriptions as stories are updated.
- Some archived video recordings do not have captions or a transcript, because the original recordings were published without them.
- Some documents (PDF) linked from older stories have not been checked for accessibility. On request we will send their content in an accessible form.
- The interface is available in 56 languages; the stories themselves are published in English and Slovenian.
Preparation of this statement
This statement was prepared on 7 November 2026 on the basis of a self-assessment with automated tests and manual keyboard testing, compared with the assessment of the previous portal of 4 November 2026.
