In early August, parts of Slovenia were hit by widespread flooding, which also caused great damage to part of the economy. Most of the Slovenian economy is functioning completely normally after the floods, it is safe and open for business.
Seven Slovenian road cyclists, including Primoลพ Rogliฤ, Tadej Pogaฤar and Matej Mohoriฤ, will auction off their jerseys in a bid to help those who were affected by floods that hit Slovenia three weeks ago, the line-up said in a social media post.
On August 6, 2023, through the EU mechanism in the field of civil protection (Emergency Response Coordination Centre - ERCC), Slovenia asked for help in mechanization for removing debris and ensuring road transportability. It also applied through the NATO mechanism for responding to natural and other disasters (Euro-Atlantic Disaster Response Coordination Centre - EADRCC) for aid to eliminate the consequences of the accident.
Slovenian athletes, federations and associations have each offered their help, donated financial and other resources, and expressed their sympathy and solidarity with those affected by the floods.
Between 11,000 and 12,000 volunteers were on the ground around Slovenia on Monday to help in the flood relief measures as part of a work-free day dubbed Solidarity Day. The affected areas also keep receiving donations, including from abroad.

Aid from abroad keeps coming to the flood-struck Slovenia, including from the war-torn Ukraine. A convoy of five excavators and 14 other vehicles with crews to be used in the Upper Savinja Valley has already arrived in Slovenia, accompanied by a civil protection team.
Flood relief and clean-up equipment and crews continue to arrive to Slovenia from abroad, in particular helicopters and heavy machinery. Aid from Spain and Germany arrived on Tuesday, while French and US assistance came today. Additional help from Slovakia is also on its way.
Due to the immense damage caused by floods, on August 6, 2023, Slovenia requested assistance from the EU and NATO. Both mechanisms were promptly activated.
European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen visited Slovenia to see in person the areas most affected by the recent floods. She and PM Robert Golob also discuss how the EU can help Slovenia, and she also addressed the parliament.
According to the Slovenian Tourism Board (STO) most of the country's tourism destinations are safe to visit. The majority of the country was not severely affected and remains open for guests and visitors, the STO announces. However, some areas are still inaccessible, and road and rail connections are disrupted in some places.
